Minnie B. MacLellan of West Pittston died Monday, Oct. 2, 2006, in Wesley Village, Jenkins Township. She was born in Pittston, April 23, 1922, a daughter of the late Dr. James R. and Helen (Kasper) Beaver. She graduated from West Pittston High School and attended Hood College. She worked for the Pittston Gazette and the Sunday Independent newspapers. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, West Pittston, where she had leadership positions on the administrative board, the United Methodist Women and served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She was also an active leader of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), the Visiting Nurses Association, the American Heart Association, the Ambulance Association, the West Pittston Cemetery Association and Red Cross Blood Drives, among many other organizations and programs.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Platten, December 2001.
She is survived by a son, Rick Geisinger, and his wife, Lynn, Stroudsburg; daughter Helen Simon, Bethesda, Md.; granddaughter Cathy Hahn and her husband, Len Hahn; grandsons Steven Geisinger, Chris Simon; great-granddaughter Caitlin Hahn.
The funeral will be held Saturday morning at 11 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church, West Pittston. The Rev. Janet Tiebert will officiate. Those attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the First United Methodist Church. Interment will be in West Pittston Cemetery
Friends may call Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home, 509 Wyoming Ave., West Pittston, and Saturday morning from 10 until 11 a.m. at the church.
