Chester J. Solinski, 86, of the Irishtown section of Plains Township, died Tuesday afternoon at Manor Care Nursing Center, Kingston.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Alexander and Catherine (Trela) Solinski. He was a Navy Veteran or the World War II and the Korean conflict. He was employed for Press Steel of Wilkes-Barre until his retirement. He was a member St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Wilkes-Barre, and the L.A.N.I. VFW Post 6325, Irishtown.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary (Peg) Ores on Dec. 18, 2002; brothers George and Joseph Ziemba, Stanley Solinski; sisters Mary Ziemba Lugoski, Stella Solinski Schuler.
Surviving are sisters Loretta Carsman, Shavertown; Victoria Chillock, Valley Crest, Plains Township; nieces and nephews.
Military funeral will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the Corcoran Funeral Home, 20 S. Main St., Plains Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Wilkes-Barre, with Father Joseph Horanzy, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Byzantine Cemetery, Dallas.
