John Modlesky, 61, formerly of Exeter, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006, at his home in Berwick.
Born in Exeter, he was a son of the late Edward and Mary (Reback) Modlesky.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Exeter, and attended Exeter High School.
He worked in the printing industry at Suburban Publishers and most recently in Virginia for 18 years at Vertes Printing as a lead pressman.
John was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in Vietnam.
He was a member of the Exeter VFW, the Wyoming Hose Co. 1 and the Lithuanian Club, Exeter.
John loved and appreciated his wife, children and grandchildren.
He enjoyed spending time with them, whether at the beach, barbequing or sharing his love of sports. John was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan and Notre Dame fan. He also was passionate about baseball and loved the N.Y. Yankees.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Edward, Joseph and Jerome Modlesky; and sisters Theresa and Eleanor Modlesky.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, the former Rosemary Race; children Michelle Modlesky, Exeter; John Jr. and his wife, Debra Modlesky, Berwick; Christopher and his wife, Debbie Modlesky, Newark, Del.; Robert Modlesky, Dupont; six grandchildren; brothers Bernard, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Raymond, Berwick; Leonard, Luzerne; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:45 a.m. from the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, Schooley Street, Exeter.
Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Cedar Street, Exeter.
