WILKES-BARRE – Police reported the following incidents:
• Dwayne Webb, 25, was arrested Wednesday at Wilkes-Barre Boulevard and South Street on an outstanding warrant.
• Christopher Zawatsky, 21, was arrested on evidence of drunken driving Sept. 30 at 200 N. Pennsylvania Ave.
• Rita Rense told police she fought with someone who grabbed her purse on East South Street at about 3:40 p.m. Tuesday.
• A coin machine at the Sparkle Brite Car Wash on Spring Street was damaged on Tuesday.
LUZERNE – Ronnie Blight, 20, of Edwardsville, who was wanted by Luzerne County Adult Probation and Parole, was arrested by Swoyersville police on Parry Street early Wednesday. Police said they stopped Blight because he was acting suspiciously and learned he was wanted.
NEWPORT TWP. – Police reported they responded to an attempted burglary call on Old Newport Street in the Sheatown section Wednesday morning.
According to police:
A resident was cutting her grass in her back yard at 10:50 a.m. when she was approached by a woman she did not know. At the same time, a neighbor spotted another woman trying to get into the front door of the home.
The two women fled in a Jeep Commander that was heading in the direction of Wanamie.
The suspect who approached the resident was described as a woman in her 30s with a medium complexion and medium brown hair in a ponytail. She was wearing navy blue shorts and a white shirt with a design on the front and carrying a navy backpack. The second woman was described as older, possibly in her 50s, wearing a beige dress. The two women spoke to each other in a foreign language.
