The Gordon-Smith Insurance Agency celebrated the opening of its new offices Thursday. Charles W. Gordon Jr. formed the agency 48 years ago. The new 3,500-square-foot office building at 2830 Memorial Highway, Shavertown, replaced one that was torn down to make room for a Rite Aid pharmacy that is under construction. Lauren M. Smith joined Gordon-Smith as principal agent in January 2004. The office employs 12 agents and support staff. Earlier this year, Gordon-Smith opened a branch on 30 S. Main St. in Wilkes-Barre.
