Rangers, Tigers go down

FARWELL — Bucktail overcame an early deficit to upset Northwest Area 15-14 on Friday in All-American Conference action.

Bucktail (6-3) assured itself of its first postseason action in more than a decade with an Eastern Conference berth, while Northwest fell to 6-3 but will still host a District 2 Class A playoff game next week.

Northwest took a 6-0 first-quarter lead, but Antonio Poleto’s 3-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter and the point-after kick gave Bucktail a 7-6 lead.

Northwest regained the lead 14-7 thanks to a 65-yard return of the ensuing kickoff and a successful two-point conversion.

But Bucktail answered when P.J. Palosky found Roger Kshir in the flat for a 66-yard scoring pass. Paloskey then found Steve Fantaski for the two-point conversion to take the lead with about 10 minutes left in the first half.

Williamsport 32, Tunkhannock 24

WILLIAMSPORT -- Williamsport needed two big plays to overcome Tunkhannock.

Down six points in the middle of the third quarter following an 11-yard touchdown pass from Tunkhannock’s Garrett Harvey to Thurston Sick, Davon Seldon took the ensuing kickoff 77 yards for a touchdown to tie the game.

The score set the stage for Williamsport’s Garrett Harvey, who connected with Shamaar Coates on a 78 pass on the Millionaires next drive. The attempt at a two-point conversion was successful, ran in by Alex Diemer.

Tunkhannock still earned a District 2 Class 3A playoff berth based on their unofficial state point total.
