Shirley M. Leonardi, 71, of Plains Township, died Friday evening at Hospice Care of the VNA, Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in the Hilldale section of Plains Township, she was the daughter of the late Spartico and Margaret (Haggerty) Leonardi. She was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School, class of 1952, and was employed in the garment industry as a sewing machine operator, last for Rickey’s Fashions, Wilkes-Barre, until her retirement. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Plains Township, and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Eugene Leonardi on Oct. 26, 2002. Surviving are her brother, Robert Leonardi, Kingston; sisters, Elizabeth Gubitoso, Bridgewater, N.J.; Sadie Mancini, Plains Township; Jacqueline Atcavage, Wilkes-Barre Township; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Monday from the Corcoran Funeral Home, 20 S. Main St., Plains Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Plains Township. Internment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.
Friends may call Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.
