Edward Lukashewski, 83, of 3988 St. Mary’s Road, Dorrance, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006.
He was born in Nanticoke on Nov. 1, 1923, a son of the late Joseph and Anna (Nadwadny) Lukashewski. Edward married Margaret Ceasar on Sept. 3, 1949, and recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.
He was owner of Edward Lukashewski and Sons Trucking and a peat bog operator. He was also a lifelong dedicated farmer.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Our Lady Help of Christian Church, Dorrance Corners; 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Council, Wilkes-Barre; and Knights of Columbus Council 12174, Dorrance Corners.
He was a member of the Pa. Farmers Association, and as a young man worked in the coal mines with his father at the Truesdale Breaker.
He was preceded in death by his sons Leonard, Stanley and Ronald; and a brother, Stanley.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret; sons Edward and wife Yvonne Lukashewski, Benton; Frank and wife Beverly Lukashewski; and Raymond Lukashewski, Dorrance; daughters Anna, at home; Julia and husband Michael Vencak; and Margaret and husband Edward Palsha, all of Dorrance; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are his sisters, Julia Helstowski, Pond Hill; Anna Kamionka, of Wyoming; brothers Joseph Lukashewski, Hobbie; and Clarence Lukashewski, Nanticoke; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Heller Funeral Home, Nescopeck, where services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m., followed by a 2 p.m. Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, Dorrance Corners.
Edward will be laid to rest in the parish cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.
