Fred W. Riek, 82, passed away Wednesday evening, May 23, 2007, at the Golden Living Center, Tunkhannock, after a lengthy illness.
Born December 22, 1924, in Milwaukee, Wis., he was a son of the late Fred and Evelyn (Kroenig) Riek.
Formerly of Milwaukee, Mr. Riek lived in Springville with his step-granddaughter, Debbie and her husband for the last five months.
A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Riek served his country during World War II.
In his earlier years, he was a construction worker for Stoehr Grading Company and Read Construction, Wisconsin.
He was a former member of the Gospel Lutheran Church, Milwaukee. He was also a member of the Local 113 Construction Workers Union, Milwaukee.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, the former Frances A. Kundra, who passed away in 2003; brothers, William and Wally Rick; stepson, Bill Dorman; step-grandsons, Paul and Bill Dorman Jr.
He is survived by a stepson, Fred Dorman and his wife, Martha, of Swoyersville; step-daughter-in-law, Matilda Dorman, of Swoyersville; nine step-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; his nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Wroblewski Funeral Home Inc., 1442 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, with Pastor Patrick W. Poole, pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Kingston, officiating. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Swoyersville. Friends may call Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
