Bardo attorneys seek stay of execution

WILKES-BARRE – Attorneys for convicted child killer Michael Bardo filed an emergency motion this morning to seeking stay his execution scheduled for next month.

Bardo, 38, of Wilkes-Barre was convicted in September 1992 of molesting and killing his niece, Joelle Donovan. Gov. Ed Rendell on Jan. 3 signed a death warrant, scheduling Bardo’s execution for Feb. 28.

Luzerne County Senior Judge Patrick Toole has scheduled a hearing on the motion for emergency stay for Friday at 9 a.m.
