Carmella Ficarra, 90, of Coral Springs, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at Coral Springs Medical Center.
Born in Pittston, Pa., Mrs. Ficarra was a former resident of Hamilton, N.J., where she resided for 57 years before moving to Coral Springs to live with her son three years ago.
Carmella was a former member of the Lawrence (N.J.) Elks Ladies Auxiliary and several local senior citizens groups. She was also a parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Carmella’s greatest joy in life was to spend time with her grandchildren and family. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
Carmella was a daughter of the late Cologero and Lucia Battaglia Ciali, the wife of the late Charles A. Ficarra, and sister of the late Nina Guiliano, Mary Salvo, and Charles, Russell and George Ciali.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Kathy Ficarra of Coral Springs, Fla.; and Charles and Lori Ficarra of Hamilton, Fla.; five grandchildren, Pam and Mark Ficarra; Melissa and her husband, Kenneth Hurst; Stacey and Jenna Ficarra; a great-grandson, Tyler Hurst; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Rose Ciali, of Pittston, and Lillian and George Choquette, of Oxen Hill, Md.; a sister-in-law, Marguerite Ciali, of Pittston; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday from the Hamilton Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, 2365 Whitehorse-Mercerville Road, Hamilton, NJ 08619. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 3816 East State St. Ext., Hamilton, N.J. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 1200 Cedar Lane, Hamilton, N.J.
The calling hours will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Hamilton Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home.
