WILKES-BARRE – A man accused by Plymouth police of sexually assaulting a woman was sentenced in Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas on Wednesday. Judge Hugh Mundy sentenced Samuel Webb, 22, of West Main Street, Plymouth, to three to 12 months at the county correctional facility on two counts of indecent assault.

Police charged Webb after a woman claimed he assaulted her while she slept inside a West Shawnee Avenue home in September. Webb was ordered to register his address with state police for 10 years under the state’s Megan’s Law, according to court records.

WILKES-BARRE – A man charged by Freeland police with assaulting a 17-year-old male waived his right to a preliminary hearing in Central Court on Thursday.

Robert Antwan Sellers, 38, of Freeland, is headed to Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas on charges of simple assault and harassment, according to court records. Freeland police charged Sellers with assaulting the teen at a Ridge Street home on Aug. 14, arrest records say.

WILKES-BARRE – Luzerne County prosecutors withdrew the most serious charges against an Ashley man accused of assaulting a woman. An officer investigating a complaint observed the man hitting the woman on Aug. 14 at a North Main street residence, according to records.

Jeffrey Arnott Jr., 20, appeared Thursday for a preliminary hearing in Central Court where prosecutors withdrew charges of simple assault, terroristic threats, both misdemeanors, and a summary offense of harassment. In exchange for the withdrawal of the charges, Arnott was charged with a summary offense of disorderly conduct.

WILKES-BARRE – Luzerne County prosecutors withdrew most felony charges against a Hazleton man who is accused by Pittston police of breaking into a music store.

Roger Reeves, 33, of West Green Street, waived a single count of burglary to Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas during Thursday’s preliminary hearing in Central Court. Prosecutors withdrew charges of criminal trespass, receiving stolen property, possession instruments of crime and three counts of theft.

Pittston police charged Reeves and Frederick Shupp, 31, of Kingston, with breaking into B&C Music Studio, North Main Street, and stealing several instruments on Aug. 3, according to arrest records. Shupp is facing a burglary charge in county court, court records say.

WILKES-BARRE – A Wilkes-Barre woman charged by Salem Township police with stealing items from a Hazle Township department store waived her right to a preliminary hearing in Central Court on Thursday.

Kimberly M. Wynings, 31, faces a single count of retail theft in Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas.

Police said Wynings stole two purses, a microwave oven and a deep fryer from Boscov’s Department Store, Laurel Mall, in March to support her drug addiction, according to the complaint.

WILKES-BARRE – Two men accused by Kingston police of stealing a briefcase that belonged to a court stenographer waived their right to a preliminary hearing in Central Court on Thursday.

Joshua Louis Caldwell, 19, unknown address, waived charges of theft and defiant trespass to Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas. Prosecutors withdrew a single count of receiving stolen property against Caldwell.

Jerome Allen Windley, 24, unknown address, waived chares of criminal trespass, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia to county court.

Kingston police charged the two after a court stenographer claimed her briefcase containing approximately $9,000 in equipment was stolen from her vehicle on Aug. 13. Police found the briefcase next to the two men while they slept inside a Main Street residence.

Police said Windley resisted arrest and was in possession of heroin, according to the criminal complaint.

WILKES-BARRE – A man whom Hazleton police say stole a vehicle waived his right to a preliminary hearing in Central Court on Thursday.

Justin Paterick, 20, of Hazleton, faces a single count of unauthorized use of a vehicle in Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas. Prosecutors withdrew charges of theft and receiving stolen property.

Police charged Paterick with stealing a 1992 Chevrolet minivan from a Carson Street residence on Aug. 11, according to the complaint.

WILKES-BARRE – A woman accused by West Pittston police of charging nearly $10,000 on a friend’s credit card without permission waived her right to a preliminary hearing in Central Court on Thursday.

Kathryn Gildea, 36, of Old Forge, waived two counts of forgery and a single count of access device fraud to Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas.

Police allege Gildea activated a credit card that was mailed to a friend and charged nearly $10,000 at various businesses and travel agencies in June, according to the criminal complaint.

WILKES-BARRE – A Scranton man accused by Duryea police of assault waived his right to a preliminary hearing in Central Court on Wednesday.

Robert Frances Chesik, 54, waived charges of simple assault, harassment and public drunkenness to Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas. Prosecutors withdrew charges of recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct.

Police said Chesik assaulted a woman he knew during a dispute at a Carroll Street residence on Aug. 12, according to the complaint.
