Cedar BMX Track in Ransom is starting a racing team to compete in local, regional and national races and is looking for sponsors for team. The team will consist of riders who race weekly at Cedar BMX. Sponsors’ names and/or logo would appear on the team jersey as well as on the Web site, cedarbmx.com. MEETINGS

Edwardsville/Larksville Little League will meet 6 p.m. Sunday at the Edwardsville Borough Building. The league asks anyone interested in coaching and volunteering to please attend.

Newport Township Little League will hold its monthly meeting at 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Guardian Center in Sheatown.

Wilkes-Barre Girls Softball will hold a meeting on Sunday at 6 p.m. at Beer Bellies on Dexter Street in Hanover Township. All coaches are urged to attend. Voting on the new T-ball division will be held. For more information, call 822-3991.

Wyoming Valley Chapter of PIAA Baseball Officials will hold an organizational meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 22 in Room 107 of Breiseth Hall on the Wilkes University campus. This meeting is for PIAA baseball umpires only and it is held in preparation for the upcoming season and the mandatory rules meeting that will take place on March 1.

Wyoming Valley Chapter of PIAA Baseball Officials will hold a mandatory rules interpretation meeting at 6:30 p.m. on March 1 in Breiseth Hall on the Wilkes University campus. This meeting is open to PIAA baseball umpires and coaches. The chapter extends the invitation to all PIAA baseball coaches of any level of interscholastic competition and any PIAA baseball umpire regardless of chapter, in need of fulfilling their mandatory meeting requirements. REGISTRATIONS/TRYOUTS

Ashley-Newtown Little League will hold registrations 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the Ashley Borough Building. The registration fee is $35 for one child and $60 per family. Copy of a birth certificate and proof of residency is required for all new players.

Dupont Girls Softball and T-Ball will hold sign-ups at the P.A.C.C. Polish Club, Dupont on Monday and Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. Open to girls ages 5 to 17. For more information, call Bruce 299-9239.

Duryea Little League will hold registrations Jan. 27-Jan. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Duryea Borough Building. Fees are $40 per player, $55 per family and $50 for teeners. Be prepared with driver’s license, two proofs of residency and your child’s medical information, shirt size and uniform number preference. Edwardsville/Larksville Girls Softball will have registrations for slow- and fast-pitch softball 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the Larksville Borough Building and 1-3 p.m. Sunday at the Edwardsville Borough Building. Girls ages 8-16 can register. If your town does not have girls slow pitch, you are also welcome.

FC America Soccer Club is now accepting applications for winter and spring travel teams for U7 through U14 boys and girls 5 to 6:30 p.m. and for U15 through U18 boys and girls 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Jan. 28 at the River Front Sports Complex. Fort Swoyer Jr./Sr. Little Leag ue will hold sign-ups at the following dates and times: Jan 24, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; Jan. 25, noon-3 p.m.; Feb. 7 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; Feb. 8, noon-3 p.m. All sign-ups will be held at the American Legion in Swoyersville.

Forty Fort Baseball for boys and girls will hold sign ups for T-ball, coach pitch, minor and major baseball, minor and major fast pitch softball, senior softball and Junior/Senior Little League. The dates are as follows: 6-9 p.m. today; and 9 a.m.-noon Jan. 31 and Feb. 7 in the press box at the Tripp Street field. Cost is $50 for one child; $65 for two children; $75 for three or more children. A $30 family fundraising fee is also required at sign ups. Cost for Jr. and Sr. Little League is $45 per player. Kingston Baseball and Softball will hold registration for all girls and boys leagues from ages 5 to 16 on Jan. 27 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Kingston Independent Fire Station on South Sprague Avenue and on Feb. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the American Legion on Wyoming Avenue in Kingston. All registrants will need a copy of a birth certificate. Kingston residency is not required for girls softball. Mayflower Little League will hold registration at Stanton Lanes on the following times and dates: 6-8 p.m. Jan. 28 and Feb. 4; and 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Jan. 31 and Feb. 7. Children ages 5-12 are eligible for the following divisions: Tee-Ball, Coach Pitch, Minor League and Little League. The cost is $35 for one child and $45 for families. A $10 late fee will be charged for those registering after Feb. 7. All new players will need a copy of their birth certificate and proof of residency. There will be a mandatory lottery ticket deposit of $50 due at the time of registration.

Open to all boys and girls ages 6-18 (must turn age 6 prior to May 1, 2009). Nanticoke Little League will sign up from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Cost is $40 per child, $55 per family. For teens, the cost is $45 per child, $60 per family. Medical information plus birth certificate, electric and cable bills will be required.

Northwest Area Little League registration will be held on Saturday at noon-3 p.m. at Northwest Area High School. Boys ages 5-14 and girls ages 5-18 are eligible. The cost is $40 per player for the first two children and $20 for the third child. The cost for Junior Boys ages 13-14 is $60 per player. First time players must bring a birth certificate and proof of residency.

Pittston Township Little League/Girls’ Softball will hold registration at the Municipal Building on Bryden Street on Jan. 28 from 6-8 p.m; Jan. 29 from 6-8 p.m; Jan. 31 from noon-2 p.m.; and Feb. 3 from 6-8 p.m. Registration is open for Little Leaguers ages 5-12 as of April 30 and softball ages 7-12 as of Jan. 1, 2009, living in Pittston Township or Hughestown. New players must bring their birth certificate and proof of residence. Registration fee is $40 per player and $50 per family. There will be a meeting held for board members, coaches and parents of the little league and girls’ softball on Sunday at 1 p.m at the Little League. Any questions, please call 655-1606.

Plains Baseball Inc. will be holding sign-ups for all levels, ages 5-16, 6-8 p.m. Thursday and Feb. 8 at the Plains American Legion. Anyone signing up after this time will incur a late fee of $15 per child. First-time players will need a copy of their birth certificates. Anyone interested in coaching/manager position should sign up at this time as well.

Plymouth Little League will hold registrations from 1-4 p.m. on Feb. 7, 2-4 p.m. on Feb. 8 and 6-8 p.m. on Feb. 13 at the Plymouth Borough Building, Shawnee Avenue. All children ages 5-12 residing in Plymouth Borough are eligible. Children must be 5 before May 1, 2009. Cost is $35 for one child, $50 for two or more. South Wilkes-Barre Little League registrations, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at Firwood United Methodist Church, Wilkes-Barre. The cost is $40 per player, $55 per family. A deposit is required for the lottery calendar fundraiser. Players age 5-12 are eligible. For more information, call the SWBLL at 825-9377.

South Valley Softball will hold signups 1-3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Wanamie Firehouse. Cost is $42 for the first child and $5 for each additional child. For more information, call Dan at 735-2272.

West Pittston Little League Baseball and Softball will hold sign-ups at West Pittston Little League at the following dates and times: today, 6-8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-noon; Jan. 29, 6-9 p.m.; Jan. 31, 9 a.m.-noon. New registrants must bring an original birth certificate. All registrants must bring three documents showing proof of residence. Boys and girls must be the age of 5 before May 1, 2009 in order to play at the T-ball level. A fundraiser will also be held with each family expected to sell five daily number calendars for $10 each. Please bring two checks, one for the registration and one for the fundraiser.

Wyoming/ West Wyoming Little League will have registrations on the following dates: Jan. 28, 6-8 p.m. and Feb. 4, 6-8 p.m. All sign-ups will be at the West Wyoming Borough Hall. New registrants must provide a birth certificate. All registrants must provide proof of residence. Boys and girls must be the age of 5 before May 1, 2009. Registration fees are $85 per player or $105 per family for senior/ junior league; $60 per player or $85 per family for players in major/minor/T-ball league. A $20 late fee will be assessed for sign ups after Feb. 11.

CLINICS

King’s College baseball coach Jerry Greeley will hold his 21st annual Grand Slam Preseason Developmental Camp for baseball players grades K-12. The camp will have sessions on Jan. 25, Feb. 1, Feb. 8 and Feb. 22 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Scanlon Gymnasium on the King’s campus. There will be guided instruction covering hitting, pitching, defensive play and conditioning each day. Cost is $35 for one session, $60 for two, $85 for three and $105 for four. Nanticoke Little League will have a spaghetti dinner on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at West Side Banquet Hall. Cost is $6.50 for adults, $3.50 per child. Take-out only. Tickets will be sold at the door.

Wyoming Valley West will hold senior night to honor senior members of the wrestling team on Jan. 27. The awards ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the match to follow.
