The schedule has been set for Monday’s District 2 boys basketball tournament games.
Some times have been changed from the schedule appearing in Saturday’s Times Leader.
Here is a breakdown of all four classifications:
Top-seeded Williamsport (19-3) will play No. 4 Wyoming Valley West (9-14) at 7 p.m. at Penn State/Wilkes-Barre in Lehman Township. Williamsport defeated the Spartans 100-64 on Dec. 13.
Second-seeded Hazleton Area (19-5) will play third-seeded Scranton (13-10) at 7 p.m. at the Berwick Middle School, which is next to the high school on Fowler Avenue. The teams last played in the district’s first round last season, with Hazleton Area winning 67-36.
There will be a doubleheader at King’s College. At 6 p.m., fourth-seeded Crestwood (19-5) faces fifth-seeded Nanticoke (15-8). The game between 10th-seeded Pittston Area (12-11) and second-seeded Coughlin (18-6) follows at 7:30 p.m.
Crestwood defeated Nanticoke 68-36 on Dec. 5, the first day of the season. Pittston Area defeated Coughlin 39-32 on Feb. 3.
Third-seeded Holy Redeemer (17-7) plays sixth-seeded West Scranton (17-6) at 7 p.m. at Wyoming Valley West High School. It will be the first time the schools play.
Ninth-seeded Dallas (14-9) and top-seeded Abington Heights (21-1) play at 7 p.m. at Scranton Prep High School. Abington brings in a 21-game winning streak into the contest and has defeated five Wyoming Valley Conference opponents in that span.
Eighth-seeded Meyers (9-14) plays top-seeded Holy Cross (21-2) at 7:30 p.m. at Scranton High School. The teams have never played.
Fourth-seeded Wyoming Seminary (11-10) and fifth-seeded Dunmore (18-6) will meet at 7:30 p.m. at Pittston Area High School. The teams last played in the 2005-06 D2-2A playoffs with Dunmore winning 40-35.
Second-seeded GAR (19-4) plays 10th-seeded Riverside (12-11) at 7 p.m. at Wyoming Area High School. GAR won the last game between the teams, 47-29 in the 2005-06 D2-2A playoffs.
Third-seeded Elk Lake (22-3) and sixth-seeded Mountain View (17-7) will meet at 7 p.m. at Valley View High School. The teams will be playing for the fourth time this season. Mountain View won 63-44 on Jan. 13. Elk Lake won 39-27 on Feb. 6 and 46-41 on Feb. 16. The latter victory gave the Warriors the Lackawanna Conference Division III championship.
Top-seeded MMI Prep (12-10) and fourth-seeded Susquehanna (9-13) play at 6 p.m. at Pittston Area High School. Susquehanna defeated MMI the last time they played, 59-36 in the D2-A playoffs during the 2006-07 season.
Second-seeded Old Forge (12-10) and third-seeded Forest City (9-13) play at 6 p.m. at Scranton High School. It will be the first meeting this season between the Lackawanna Conference teams.
