OLYPHANT – The Geneva School will present its fifth annual Taste of the Valley on Thursday, May 7, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Genetti Manor, Main Street, Dickson City.

Area restaurants and specialty shops will offer samples and showcase their products. A silent and a live auction by Rebecca’s Auction House will also be part of the activities. There will also be door prizes.

SCRANTON – State Rep. Kevin Murphy, D-Scranton, will offer monthly office hours in each of the boroughs within the 113th district beginning May 6.

The constituent outreach program aims to offer more services without the increased costs of operating additional full-time offices throughout his district, Murphy said.

Office hours will be offered from once every month from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the following locations: Clarks Green Borough Building, 104 N. Abington Road, fourth Wednesday of the month; Moosic Borough Building, 715 Main St., first Wednesday of the month; South Abington Township Building, 104 Shady Lane Road, Chinchilla, second Wednesday of the month; Taylor Borough Building, 122 Union St., third Wednesday of the month; and Throop Borough Building, 436 Sanderson St., first Wednesday of the month.

WAVERLY – A series of meditation classes, “Mindful, Concentration & Wisdom,” will be offered at the Waverly Community House, 1115 N. Abington Road.

Buddhist monk Kelsang Mikyopa will teach participants breathing meditations to calm the mind and reduce stress. The series will be held on Wednesdays, April 29 through May 13, from 7 to 9 p.m. Cost is $8.

WAVERLY – The Attic Shop, an upscale consignment shop located in the lower level of the Waverly Community House, 1115 N. Abington Road, will hold sales days.

The shop will be open Friday, May 1, from 10 a.m. to noon; Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Sunday, May 3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. All merchandise will be at least half price. On Wednesday, May 6, the final sales day, each item in the store will cost $1 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. All proceeds benefit area charities.
