William Weisberger, 95, of Wilkes-Barre, formerly of Kingston, died Wednesday in Hospice Community Care, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Czechoslovakia, he was a son of the late Samuel and Regina Glattstein Weisberger and was a graduate of Luzerne High School. He was an avid member of Temple Israel, the Jewish Community Center, its Men’s Club and he was a longtime volunteer at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
He moved to New York in 1950 with his wife and children, where he started his own sales business, remaining there until 1976, at which time he moved back to Wilkes-Barre and worked with his brothers at Better House, until he retired.
William was preceded in death by his brother, Marvin and sister, Betty Bohm.
A devoted husband and father, he is survived by his wife, the former Belle Marcus; children, Sandy Weisberger and his wife, Darlene, Madison, Wisc., Susan Silverblatt and her husband, Arthur, Kingston, Steven Weisberger and his wife, Robin, Kingston; three grandchildren, Brian and Jamie Weisberger and Robert Silverblatt; and brother, Ernest Weisberger, Kingston.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, 348 S. River St., Wilkes-Barre, with the Rabbi Larry Kaplan and Cantor Ahron Abraham officiating. Interment will be in Temple Israel Cemetery, Swoyersville.
