NANTICOKE: K.M. Smith Elementary School (kindergarten and first grade), 25 Robert St., Nanticoke, and Kennedy School (second grade) and the GNA Elementary Center (third to fifth grades), 513-601 Kosciuszko St., Nanticoke, are accepting registrations for the new school year that begins on Sept. 2. Registration is held daily from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
In order to be eligible for kindergarten, students must be 5 years of age on or before Sept. 30. Parents/guardians must provide birth certificates, health and immunizations records, proof of residency, and custody papers, if applicable. If the child is a foster child, papers must be provided from the agency that supervises the care of the child.

WILKES-BARRE: Wilkes-Barre Area School District will hold pre-registration for the area’s junior/senior high schools. New and transferring junior and senior high school students who will enter James M. Coughlin, GAR Memorial or E.L. Meyers High Schools may pre-register at the building the student will be attending. Students must bring a birth certificate, most recent report card, proof of residence, (that may include a current lease or rental agreement, recent utility bill or current driver’s license), and immunization records. Registrations will be held on the following dates and times:
Coughlin Senior High School -- week of July 27-31, 8 a.m. to noon.
GAR Memorial Junior-Senior High School -- week of Aug. 3-7, 8 a.m. to noon.
Meyers Junior-Senior High School -- week of Aug. 3-7, 8 a.m. to noon.
Students may also register during the summer from 8 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, at the school they will be attending.
