WILKES-BARRE -- The Conservatory at Wilkes University is offering non-credit summer classes in dance and music for adults and children. Classes remain open for registration.

KINGSTON – Exit 5 southbound of the North Cross Valley Expressway is closed through October due to an ongoing bridge repair project. PennDOT said a detour using Exit 6 is posted for drivers needing to reach Wyoming Avenue.

Two through traffic lanes are open, although occasional closures may be needed to perform renovation work. The on-ramps southbound from Union Street, Luzerne, and northbound from Wyoming Avenue remain open.

PLAINS TWP. – The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board will hold a public hearing on Aug. 19 to gather evidence, including public comment, on renewing the slot machine operator’s license for Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.

The hearing will begin at 10 a.m., in the Plains Township Municipal Building No. 2, 50 Second St.

Individuals, community groups and elected officials may register to present oral or written testimony by using a dedicated link on the PGCB Web site at www.pgcb.state.pa.us. Registration deadline is noon on Aug. 17.
