Shutout victories for WVW, Lehman

KINGSTON – Maria Kayrish and Kelcie Hromisin scored second-half goals as Wyoming Valley West defeated Delaware Valley 2-0 Friday in a Wyoming Valley Conference Division B girls soccer game.

Kayrish connected in the 55th minute unassisted. Hromisin followed late in the game off an assist by Rebecca Lipski.

Keeper Shelby Butz made seven saves to record the shutout. DelVal keeper Brianna Kody stopped 27 shots.

The game was switched to Spartan Stadium, with the April 16 matchup now scheduled for DelVal.

Kylie Kustrin and Nikki Sutliff scored goals, and keeper Becca Stull saved a penalty kick midway through the second half in Lake-Lehman’s victory.

Kustrin scored off an assist by Catherine Sullivan in the 27th minute. Stull then came up with her saves a few minutes before Sutliff scored unassisted.

Kelsey Kohrs scored the game’s only goal midway through the first half as Honesdale defeated Hanover Area in a Division B game.

Honesdale lost twice to Hanover Area last season when both teams were battling for the Division C title. Hanover Area won the Division C championship.

Berwick made a first-half goal by sophomore Isabella Jaffin hold up as the Dawgs shut out Crestwood.

Haley McClafin assisted the score. Katlin Michaels added another score in the second half, while keeper Sarah Wilczynski kept the Comets off the board.

Meghan Lenahan scored both Abington Heights goals in its shutout of Wyoming Seminary.

Emily Sullivan added an assist on Lenahan’s first goal. Keeper Mariah Deibert made seven saves.
