MEETINGS

Brussock Bowling League will have a reorganization meeting 7 p.m. Friday at Rhythm and Brews, Luzerne. The clambake will be held Sunday at noon at the Larksville American Legion. Anyone bringing guests should contact Rick at 288-6309 or 499-4467 by Wednesday.

LCCC women’s volleyball will meet 6 p.m. Aug. 6 at the Atherton Gymnasium on the main campus. Anyone interest in playing for the Lady Trailblazers for the 2009 season should attend the meeting. Anyone who cannot attend should call the LCCC athletic office at 740-0428 or 740-0429.

Stoners soccer will hold a duel meeting for referee signups and coach’s season schedule pickups at 6 p.m. Aug. 6 at the Martin Mattei field in Pittston. Game schedules will be available for referees to pick selected times and coaches will receive copies of their schedules to give out to their teams.

WVW Gridiron Club will meet 7:30 p.m. today at WVW Middle School. All parents/guardians are encouraged to attend.

PHYSICALS

Lake-Lehman will conduct physicals during the following dates and times: 9 a.m. Aug. 3 for senior high girls; 5 p.m. Aug. 6 for junior high boys; 9 a.m. Aug. 10 for senior high boys; and 9 a.m. Aug. 13 for junior high girls. There will not be a makeup exam day. All physicals must be completed before Aug. 17. Students will not be permitted to practice on Aug. 17 until a physical is received by the district. Physical forms may be obtained at the main office during regular school hours. A parent/guardian must sign all forms prior to the exam.

REGISTRATIONS/TRYOUTS

Coughlin junior field hockey team will hold signups on Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Solomon Plains Fieldhouse. All new and returning team members should report to this signup.

Forty Fort Flyers Youth Football and Cheerleading is still accepting registrations for anyone interested in having fun and friendly competition. Contact Polly at 714-0425 or 817-5794 if interested.

Kingston Recreation Center is now accepting teams for its men’s fall softball league. The league will be held Monday-Thursday nights and Sundays. The fee is $200 for Monday-Thursday night teams and $150 for Sunday men’s and coed teams. If paid in full by Aug. 7 there will be a $20 discount. Leighton Men’s Fall Sunday Softball League now has applications available. The season will begin Aug. 23 and continue through October. Any team interested can contact John Leighton at 825-7495. Deadline for entry is Aug. 16.

Mountaintop Area Little League is offering fall baseball for players ages 8 through 11. Season runs late August through mid-October. Sign-up dates are Thursday and Aug. 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Alberdeen Complex. Cost $40 per player. Nanticoke Little League will be having its annual closing day picnic at the Plymouth Township Field on Aug. 22 from noon to 5 p.m. All children and parents from the League are welcome. Please contact your coach with a count of on who is coming.

Woodlands Inn & Resort will hold its fifth annual Golf Classic on Aug. 6 at Blue Ridge Golf Course. It will be a captain and crew format with a noon shotgun start.
