Theresa (Vitale) Struble, 65, of West Grand Street, Nanticoke, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born on January 15, 1944, in the Lee Park section of Hanover Township, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Esther Wilde Vitale. She was a graduate of Harter High School, West Nanticoke, and had been employed as a nurse’s aide.
She was a member of the Vernon Baptist Church.
Theresa was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood Struble in 1984; brother, Joseph “Butch” Vitale; and a sister, Esther Donlon.
Surviving are her daughter, Maria Mancini and her husband, Joseph; and grandson, Joey, of Pittston; sister, Carmela Michno and her husband, Florian, of Nanticoke; brothers-in-law, Patrick Donlon, of Kingston, Ronald Struble, of Reading; sister-in-law, Anna Vitale, of West Nanticoke; and her significant other, Earl Kallansrud, of Nanticoke; many nieces; nephews; and cousins; and her beloved kitty, Merlin.
Although Theresa lived a life of modest means, her Christian faith and beliefs led her to help those less fortunate. As the old saying goes, “She would give you the shirt off of her back.” She will be missed by many. The family would like to express their thanks to the doctors and nurses of the Cardiac Care Unit of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for the wonderful care they provided to Theresa during her illness.
The family wishes to express their thanks to Theresa’s nieces, Diane and Darlene, for the extraordinary care they provided during these most difficult times. Donations, if desired, may be made to the Luzerne County S.P.C.A. in Theresa’s memory.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. from the Stanley S. Stegura Funeral Home Inc., 614 S. Hanover St., Nanticoke, with the Rev. Glenn Spencer of the Vernon Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Nanticoke Cemetery, Nanticoke.
