Edward J. Lacomis, formerly of Dupont, died Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at the Laurels, Kingston, following a brief illness. He previously resided at Riverview Ridge, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Dupont, April 15, 1922, he was a son of the late Stanley and Anna Lacomis. He attended Dupont schools and was a member of Sacred Heart Church. He was also a member of the Polish American Citizen Club, Dupont.
He was employed in various industries throughout his lifetime, including coal breakers, railroads, farming, American Chain and Cable and Dupont Borough.
Mr. Lacomis also had a love for nature and animals and was an active supporter of the SPCA, Second Chance Pet Rescue, the Audubon Society, the National Wildlife Federation and the Nature Conservatory.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Frank, John, Eugene, Joseph, William; and nephew, James Lacomis.
Surviving are nieces, Rosalie Vanderhoof, Blakeslee; Ann Dukus, Wilkes-Barre; nephews, Joseph Lacomis, Dupont, William Lacomis, Nanticoke; great-nephew, William Lacomis, Plains Township; and sister-in-law, Helen Lacomis, Plains Township.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the Lokuta Funeral Home, Wyoming Avenue, Dupont, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church.
