PITTSTON TWP. – Stephen A. Menn told about 35 supporters Tuesday that his 25 years of courtroom experience has prepared him for a seat on the Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas.

Menn, 50, of Plains Township, became the 15th candidate for three open seats on the county bench. A registered Democrat, Menn said he will cross-file on both party tickets in the May 19 primaries.

Menn made his announcement at the Quality Inn, Route 315, Pittston Township.

“My experience in criminal and civil court cases sets me apart from the other candidates in this race,” Menn said. “But more importantly, in light of recent events, we know that experience is not the only reason to elect a judge. I have the honesty, fairness, integrity and compassion needed to be a good judge.”

Menn promised his supporters he would be faithful to the principles he laid out.

“I will never embarrass any of you who support me,” he said. “There is a large field in this race, and the key to victory will be a team effort. I will get out there and meet people, and I hope you will tell your families and friends to vote for me.”

Menn and his wife, Donna, are parents of one daughter, Lauren. A native of West Pittston, Menn is a graduate of Wyoming Area High School, Villanova University and the Thomas M. Cooley School of Law.

Menn serves as solicitor for Plains Township and Wyoming and Laurel Run boroughs. He is assistant solicitor for Luzerne County.

He is a past president of the Wilkes-Barre Chapter of UNICO and a past member of the Greater Pittston YMCA board of directors. He is a member of Plains Rotary Club and a youth soccer coach for the Forty Fort Pioneers.
