Salvaterra leads Cougars to victory

HAZLETON – Shannon Salvaterra struck out nine and led a late-game offensive outburst with a two-run homer as Hazleton Area rallied for a 7-3 victory over Holy Redeemer in Wyoming Valley Conference softball Thursday.

Kayla Kinney also homered and Candice Van Horn had three RBI.

The Trojans improved to 2-0 as Sara Bertoni allowed three hits and fanned 12 in six innings to earn the victory.
