Cooperative Extension hands out several awards

Naomi Harris of Lackawanna County Area Agency on Aging receives award from Lillian Russell-Burnett of Penn State Cooperative Extension.

The Penn State Cooperative Extension in Lackawanna County recently held its annual meeting at the Electric City Trolley Museum.

Ruth Burns and Tom McHugh, educators for Penn State’s 4-H/youth development programs, presented Hilda Lewis and Joseph Macialek with certificates recognizing their many years of dedicated service to Penn State’s youth programs. Lewis was honored for 44 years of service and Macialek for 40 years.

Lillian Russell-Burnett, nutrition education adviser, recognized Naomi Harris, senior center service director at Lackawanna County Area Agency on Aging, for her dedication to helping to bring nutrition education programs to seniors in Lackawanna County.

Brian Pallman, Penn State Cooperative board member, presented Kim Carlen with the Thomas B. Jurchak Extension Award for making a significant contribution to the Lackawanna County Extension program by advancing its goals of education in agriculture, family living, youth, and community development.

A brunch was followed by a tour of the trolley museum.
