CARBONDALE – PennDOT is performing road work on Route 6. The work will run from 7 a.m. to approximately 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, weather permitting, for the next two weeks. There will be alternating single-lane restrictions on Business Route 6 both east and west (Brooklyn Street, Main Street, Canaan Street, Roosevelt Highway and the Scranton-Carbondale Highway sections) while a new water utility is installed in Carbondale between Eighth Avenue and Church Street. Motorists should expect delays.

SCRANTON – The University of Scranton’s Weinberg Memorial Library is seeking volunteers and accepting book and tag sale donations for its annual spring book and plant sale set for April 25, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and April 26, from noon to 4 p.m.

The library is accepting all titles of used, hardcover and paperback books, including children’s books, cookbooks, fiction and non-fiction. In addition, the library is collecting videos, compact discs, audiocassettes, records and tag sale items.

Donations can be placed in the boxes on the Monroe Avenue side of the library and will be accepted through April 22.

The event, coordinated by the Friends of the Weinberg Memorial Library, library staff and volunteers, will be held in the Scranton Heritage Room on the fifth floor of the library. Book prices begin at $1. Flowering plants and tag sale items will also be sold.

A preview sale will be held Friday, April 24, for Friends’ members and Schemel Forum members. For more information or to volunteer, call Barb Evans at 941-4078.
