Seasonal celebrations were on tap in the area late last week and over the weekend. West Pittston marked its annual Cherry Blossom Festival by the river on Saturday and Sunday with a whole host of activities, performances and food. A Kentucky Derby Eve Gala to benefit the Osterhout Free Library in Wilkes-Barre was held Friday evening on the library lawn and inside the Westmoreland Club next door. In Scranton on Saturday, the May Day Soiree was at the Colonnade to benefit United Cerebral Palsy of Northeastern Pennsylvania.
