Mary (Betty) Dessoye, 81, of Wood Street, Pittston, died Sunday at the Hospice Unit of Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Pittston on February 29, 1928, she was a daughter of the late William and Helen Van Leuan Carey Sr. She was a graduate of Pittston High School, Class of 1946. She was employed by Bell Telephone, Suburban Publishers, Topps Bubble Gum and Mark Data.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis, on March 3, 2006; son Thomas; brother John Carey; and sister Joan Chudoba.
Surviving are her sons, Francis and his wife, Angela, Pittston Township; Robert and his wife, Diane, Laflin; Michael, Lambertville, N.J.; William and his wife, Kim, Pittston; daughter Mary Beth and her husband, David Morris, Jenkins Township; grandchildren Amy and her husband, Carl Oliveri; Kelly Dessoye; Kayla and Conner Morris; Thomas, Emily and Billy Dessoye; brother William and his wife, Barbara Carey, Pittston; and sister Margaret (Peggy) Martin, Fairfax, Va.; nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. from the Kizis-Lokuta Funeral Home, 134 Church St., Pittston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s Assumption Church, Pittston. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Hughestown. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday, from 4 to 8 p.m.
