WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following incidents:
An unknown person scratched the driver’s side of Richard Pavloski’s 2009 Ford while it was parked at 271 Poplar St. at 12:41 p.m. Wednesday.
Officers encountered Chad Waiter, 34, of Bradford Street, on Grove Street just before 9 a.m. Wednesday. Police said he provided officers with a false name and was intoxicated. Waiter was arrested and will be charged with false identification to police and public drunkenness.
Someone used Lorraine Veneziale’s debit card for unauthorized purchases in the area of 40 Corlear St. on Tuesday.
Wesley Dervinis, 61, was tricked out of a large sum of money at 165 Poplar St. on Friday.
Robert Griffith, 21, of Wilkes-Barre, was cited with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct in the area of 188 N. Washington St. at 1:10 a.m. Friday.
Patricia Lumia reported at 8:20 p.m. Thursday that her sister, Barbara Lumia, 30, of Wilkes-Barre, broke into her North Main Street residence through the back door causing damage to the frame.
The victim told police her sister was not permitted in the home and when she told her to leave she refused. Barbara Lumia was charged with criminal trespass and criminal mischief.
Jason Shinko, 25, reported at 2:20 p.m. Friday that his vehicle was entered while it was parked in the area of 146 Stanton St., and bowling equipment, tools and other items were stolen from the trunk.
A 20-year-old man’s dog attacked another dog owned by 44-year-old Dominga Sosa, of North Washington Street, in the area of 211 Madison St. just after 2:30 p.m. Friday.
A man reported on Thursday that his computer was stolen at 302 N. Washington St.
Cheryl Carter, 52, of South Main Street, was arrested Thursday on a warrant for defiant trespassing at 15 N. Washington St.
Mark Maglioli, of Pringle, turned into Joseph Hasan’s vehicle in the area of North Pennsylvania Avenue and East North Street around 11:50 p.m. Thursday. Hasan’s vehicle was severely damaged. No injuries were reported.
An unknown person removed Duwayne Brown’s green 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee – bearing Pennsylvania registration plate HGN 1917 – in the area of 185 Brown St. on Friday.
HANOVER TWP. – Brian David Burke, 33, was arrested by Hanover Township police about 2:21 a.m. Saturday for violating a protection from abuse order. Burke was arraigned Saturday by District Judge John Hasay and is being held in lieu of a $5,000 bail. He is schedule to have a preliminary hearing 9 a.m. Oct. 15 at the Luzerne County Courthouse.
Police said they were called after he slashed his wife’s tire on her vehicle in front of her home on Lee Park Avenue. One tire was found slashed, police said. Police will issue a non-traffic summary citation for criminal mischief for the slashed tire.
