Joseph Fasula cuts the ribbon Tuesday at the grand re-opening of the newly remodeled Gerrity’s Supermarket on Union Street, Luzerne. Changes include installation of energy efficient lighting and refrigerated display cases, new wood flooring and updated décor. The family-owned Gerrity’s, headquartered in Scranton, operates nine supermarkets in Lackawanna and Luzerne counties. The company is owned by Joyce Fasula and her sons Joe and Neal. Gerrity’s, which began in 1895 as a small meat market, employs more than 900 people.
