Ruth (Miner) Kosteva, 77, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born on May 16, 1932, she was a daughter of Archie W. and Mary (Tabb) Miner. She was a graduate of E.L. Meyers High School. She worked as a retail sales clerk at The Boston Store and as a bank teller.
Ruth was a member of Albright United Methodist Church, where she served on the Board of Trustees. Previously, she had been a member of Parrish St. Methodist Church, and was a member of the choir. She was also very involved with the American Legion, where she was a secretary of Shawnee Post No. 463 Ladies Auxiliary, Plymouth. Ruth was also a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary, No. 1425, where she served as an auditor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Kosteva; her brothers, William Miner, Ronald Miner and Robert H. Miner; and sisters Hazel Marshall and Margaret Modrovsky.
She is survived by her sister Eudora Alexis, Kingston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Kniffen O’Malley Funeral Home Inc., 465 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. Brima of Albright United Methodist officiating. Interment will follow at Fern Knoll Burial Park, Dallas. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
