Sarah A. Columbo, 97, of Mountain Top, died Wednesday morning, Dec. 2, 2009, at her home.
Born in Minersville, Pa., she was a daughter of the late George and Anna (Keris) Martuza.
She was educated in Nanticoke schools and was a graduate of Nanticoke High School, class of 1932. She also was a graduate of Wyoming Seminary’s Dean School of Business.
Her employment included Duplan silk mill, Nanticoke, the office of Scientific Research and Development, Washington, D.C., and was last employed for 30-plus years at The Lucky 16 Pantry Quik convenience store in Mountain Top.
She was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Sugar Notch.
She is preceded in death, in addition to her husband, George, in 1977, by a brother, Victor Martuza; and sisters Verna Washco, Genevieve Morgan and Mildred Traher.
Surviving are a daughter, Ann Marie Columbo, Mountain Top; and sons John and William, Mountain Top, and George, San Diego, Calif.
Funeral services will be held at 8:45 a.m. Monday from the Desiderio Funeral Home Inc., 436 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Sugar Notch. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.
