Winifred Glenn Gardella, of Coral Springs, Fla., died Friday, December 31, 2010, at her home, surrounded by family.
Winnie was born in Pittston, and raised by her beloved parents, John and Kathleen Brennan Glenn.
She graduated from St. John the Evangelist High School, in Pittston, and was awarded an associate of arts from Immaculata College in Washington, D.C.
She went on to earn a bachelor of science from Misericordia College and a master of science from the C.W. Post Center School of Education of Long Island University.
Winnie was a lifelong educator and dedicated public servant who spent the majority of her career teaching first and second grade in Jericho, N.Y.
She retired to Coral Springs, where she supported her community by volunteering more than 3,000 hours of dedicated service at Coral Springs Medical Center.
She was an active member of the Mary, Help of Christians Roman Catholic Church in Parkland, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Louis A. Gardella.
Winnie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Louise and Gary Lindenbaum, Paramus, N.J.; her three grandchildren, Matthew Glenn Lindenbaum, Burlington, Mass.; Kenneth Lindenbaum, Los Angeles, Calif., and Daniel Ryan Lindenbaum, Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.; and great-grandchild, Jack Shoken Lindenbaum, Burlington.
The family will receive guests at the Kraeer Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 1655 University Drive, Coral Springs, today 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at Mary, Help of Christians Roman Catholic Church, 5980 University Drive, Parkland, Fla., Wednesday at10:30 a.m.
