James W. Reynolds, who grew up in the Newtown section of Hanover Township, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 2, 2011, surrounded by dear family members. Widely known as “Roxy,” he was active in the Ashley Presbyterian Church and Boy Scout Troop 101, where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
After graduating from Hanover Township High School in 1947, James served two years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Japan. He then attended Wilkes College, from which he graduated in 1953. Following college, he was to leave Wyoming Valley and eventually settle in Wilmington, Del., where he was employed for 24 years by General Motors, followed by another 15 years with A G Edwards & Sons.
James was preceded in death by his father, James W. Reynolds Sr.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Leck Reynolds; wife of 55 years Florence Kistler Reynolds; daughter, Nancy (and husband Harvey Duckor); sister, Janice (and husband Doug Longo); brother, Robert (and Gail); grandchildren, Nina and Alex; nephews, Doug and Matt Nagle; and nieces, Julie and Rebecca Reynolds. He is also survived by two uncles, Peter and Paul Leck; as well as many cousins.
A memorial service was held on Monday, February 7, 2011, at Oaklawn Cemetery.
