Supervisors approve sewer agreement

Residents wishing to hook into the Penn Lake Park system must pay $3,000.

DENNISON TWP. – Township supervisors Wednesday night approved an intermunicipal sewer agreement with Penn Lake Park borough.

Under the agreement, residents who wish to hook on to the township sewer main pay the township a $3,000 tap-on fee. The township gives $1,750 of that to Penn Lake Park for its sewer fund and keeps the remaining $1,250 to pay down the township sewer debt.

Connections to the sewer main are subject to review and inspection by the borough’s engineer.

In other business:

• Police Officer Tom Szok told supervisors a resident complained that state police told her that if a call was not an emergency, they would not respond.

State police provide coverage when township police are off duty.

• There was a brief discussion on the storm water management ordinance that will go into effect in April. It is in its final stages of approval. This calls for residents to contain any water that comes onto their property. The water cannot be diverted away from the property on all impervious surfaces. This applies to new construction only.

• Supervisor Sheila Weaver thanked fire company President Bill Bauersfeld and the other volunteers.

“What would we do without them,” she said.

The volunteers have to complete 187 hours of uncompensated training in addition to the hours actually fighting fires and going on related calls.

• Road master Clarence Fisher reported the township has plenty of salt and ashes, and the roads are in good shape. Supervisor Mike Mack suggested next year putting something in the culverts to indicate where the side of road is to aid plow drivers.• Also, Weaver said the township is looking for someone to donate time to put up the township website. Anyone interested should call 443-8190.
