Elizabeth ‘Betty’ King

Elizabeth “Betty” A. King, of Centermoreland, died peacefully, Sunday, April 3, 2011, at her home, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Betty was born in Kingston, on August 17, 1943, a daughter of the late Stephen and Marie Goble Yurish.

She was a 1961 graduate of West Side Central Catholic, and a member of the Church of the Nativity BVM, Tunkhannock.

Betty was a devoted wife, mother, and caregiver to her late sister Marie Yurish. She enjoyed working in her garden, playing cards with her family and friends, weekend trips to the family cabin, fishing, knitting, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband of 45 years, John J. King; son, Stephen, and wife JoDee King, Little Silver, N.J.; daughters, Kelly King, Olyphant, Pa., and Shannon and husband Jason Schuckers, Sweet Valley; sisters, Kathleen and husband Albert Finarelli, Hunlock Creek; Christine and husband Barry Pizzano, Dallas; grandchildren, Stephen Fitzgerald, Pieter Quackenbush, Madison and Jack King, and Landon and Mason Schuckers.

The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Hospice of the Sacred Heart for making her last days comfortable.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Nativity BVM, Tunkhannock. Interment will be in Saint Nicholas Cemetery, Shavertown. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Drive, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
