Robert E. Collmier, 76, of Plains Township, formerly of the North and East End sections of Wilkes-Barre, died Sunday, April 3, 2011, in Wesley Village, Jenkins Township.
Mr. Collmier was born in Wilkes-Barre, a son of the late William and Kathleen Moran Collmier.
He attended Holy Saviors Elementary School and James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre.
Mr. Collmier served in the Marine Corps for some time, and was later employed by McCarthy Tire Service, Wilkes-Barre, and by the H. Merritt Hughes Funeral Home Inc., Wilkes-Barre.
Prior to his retirement in 1999, he had been with the Wyoming Valley Sanitary Authority, Hanover Township, for more than 25 years.
Bob was a member of the Catholic Community of Northeast Wilkes-Barre, and of the Donegal Society.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Douglas E. Collmier; a brother, William Collmier; and sisters, Laverne Conway, Celene Masters, and Adelaide Drew.
Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol Zaremski Collmier, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Pamela Findora, and her husband, John, Jenkins Township; a sister, Mrs. Roberta Kopstys, Wyoming; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday from the H. Merritt Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 451 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with a funeral Mass at 2 p.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Assumption Byzantine Rite Catholic Cemetery, Dallas. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. A Christian Wake Service will be held Tuesday.
The Collmier family also wishes to thank the staff of Amedysis Hospice and of Wesley Village for their kindness and special attention to Mr. Collmier during his last illness.
