Lehman edges Hanover Area

LEHMAN TWP. — Josh Everett singled with two outs in the bottom of the seventh and Ryan Carter was able to score the winning run from first after a throwing error, giving Lake-Lehman a 4-3 win over Hanover Area on Tuesday.

Carter was on first as a courtesy runner for catcher Cole Barbacci, who drew a one-out walk. Everett’s hit then gave the Black Knights (7-1) a season sweep of the Hawkeyes. Justin Cornell went the distance for the win.

Hanover Area (5-3) had rallied to tie the game in the top of the sixth thanks to a two-run single by Mike View.

Preppers take two from Sem

MMI Prep finished off Wyoming Seminary in the resumption of a suspended game from April 8 and then got a walk-off single from Alec Andes in the second game, winning 5-3 and 5-4, respectively.

Both games were played at MMI’s home field in Drifton. The first contest had started at Wyoming Seminary last month before being suspended with the Preppers (4-5) leading 2-0 in the top of the fourth.

In the first game, six different MMI players singled, with Dan Yencha and R.J. Kupsho each picking up an RBI. Max Wiles and Robert Polachek had two hits apiece for Seminary (3-6).

In the second game, Andes ripped a single down the third-base line with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh for the win. The Blue Knights had tied the game 4-4 in the top of the seventh.

Charlie Karchner picked up the win in relief in both games.
