Bone wins K of C free throw contest

Mike Bone Jr., 12 years old, a sixth grade student at Monsignor McHugh School in Williamsport, won the basketball foul shooting contest sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, St. Bernadette’s Lodge 12447.

The son of Dr. Michael Bone, Mike came in first place in the 12-year old age bracket. The contest was Jan 29 at Monsignor McHugh.

He has been high scorer on the traveling team, playing schools in Scranton, Dunmore this basketball season, shooting double figures. This is the second year in a row he came in first place. He won the award for most improved player at Pocono Mountain West Basketball Camp.

This spring he will play basketball on a traveling team. He has made all-star teams the last four years. He also plays goalie on travel soccer team, taking the championship, beating teams as far as Philadelphia, Allentown, Morristown. He allowed 12 goals in 18 games, having five shutouts.
