A three-on-three basketball tournament will be held in the Wyoming Area gymnasium on Saturday, February 26 beginning at 10 a.m. to benefit Anthony Lydon, 2-years old, from Duryea who has Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). Admission is $3 and profits will go towards family expenses incurred while traveling to Oklahoma for Anthony’s heart surgery to be conducted March 15.
There are three separate surgical procedures performed in the first 5-7 years of the child’s life. This will be Anthony’s third and final surgery. The first one was conducted at six-days old and the second at 6-months old.
Wyoming Area Key Club is the event sponsor.
The tournament will feature knock out and half-court shot competitions, a basket raffle, and a 50-50 raffle. There will also be food available at the concession stand.
Participants will be Wyoming Area students from grades 7 through 12, as well as faculty and staff.
Raffle baskets will still be welcomed if you would like to donate. Contact Christine Rutledge, Key Club Advisor at 655-2836 ext. 2262.
If you would like to donate money to help the Lydon’s time of need, please send a check to Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Lydon, 80 Chittenden Street, Duryea 18642.
Anthony is the son of Jerry and Tanya (Nawrocki) Lydon. Tanya is a 1997 Pittston Area graduate.
