Tux celebrates Read Across America with students at WA Catholic

Tux the Penguins mascot visited Wyoming Area Catholic School. Tux was here to help celebrate Read Across America. The students were entertained by Tux while he acted out a Dr. Duess book being read.

Early Dismissal

Wednesday, April 20 there will be an 11 a.m. dismissal to celebrate the rest of Holy Week and to prepare for the Triduum, the holiest days of the year. There will be no After School Care.

National Junior Honor Society

Congratulations to the following students who were inducted into the National Junior Honor Society for the 2010-11 school year:

Mr. James Redington was the guest speaker for the students art the induction ceremony. Mr. Redington was the former principal at Seton Catholic High School, Pittston and Holy Redeemer High School, Wilkes-Barre. Mrs. Elizabeth Kaminski is the moderator for the National Junior Honor Society.

Congratulations

To the Royal Bishops Chess Club on winning the Chess Tournament in the 2nd annual Royal Bishops vs. Nanticoke Kennedy Center Chess Tournament.

Spring Dress Code

Spring Dress Code began on April 15. All students may wear navy dress shorts (No cargo shorts will be allowed) no shorter than two inches above the knee and no longer than two inches below the knee. Girls may wear skorts but may not wear pants. Girls may wear WAC polo shirt with the shorts, skort or uniform skirt only from start of school to October 15 and from April 15 to end of school. No scuffing sneakers may be worn with shorts or skorts. No sneakers with long pants or skirts. Please refer to the Student-Parent Handbook for more details.

Gym Classes

For the week of April 25 the gym schedule is as follows:

Thursday, April 28: Gym for grades Pre-K through fifth grades

Friday, April 29: Gym Classes for sixth, seventh and eighth grades

Cougar Cash

No Cougar Cash orders for the week of April 18. It is Holy Week. Cougar Cash Orders will resume on Tuesday, April 26.
