Wright, Homza combine on no-hitter as Exeter rolls

The Exeter Parini Phillies opened its season with a 5-1 win over West Pittston Cenera’s Auto.

Steve Homza, Matt Wright and Sam Giordano combined to pitch a two-hitter. Wright and Giordano also paced the Phils at the plate with a single and double each.

Matt Wright and Steve Homza scattered three hits as the Exeter Phillies beat the Pittston Twp. Phillies, 7-2.

Homza led the Phils at the plate with a single and double.

Exeter Phils 3, Pittston 1

The hitting of Steve Homza, Sam Giordano, Matt Wright, John McNeil and Josh Quick led the Exeter Phillies to a 3-1 win over the Pittston City Knights of Columbus.

Wright and Homza combined to earn the victory on the mound.

Matt Wright and Steve Homza combined to pitch a no-hitter as the Exeter Phillies shut out Jack’s Collision of West Pittston, 5-0.

Wright and Homza also led the offense with three hits each. Ryan Wrubel, Mike Wall and Morgan Coolbaugh all provided timely hits for the Phillies.

Ryan Shuleski belted three hits as the Exeter Phillies edged Wyoming/West Wyoming Diamond Manufacturing, 4-3.

Matt Wright and Steve Homza combined for the win on the hill.

Ryan Shuleski fanned 10 batters in five innings of one-hit pitching to lead the Exeter Phillies to a 4-2 win over Pittston City American Legion.

Matt Wright earned the save by pitching the sixth.

Alex Ambruso and John McNeil came up with hits for the Phillies.

Exeter Phils 8, JT Phillies 3

Sam Giordano smacked a double and two singles to lead the Exeter Phillies to an 8-3 win over the Jenkins Twp. Phillies.

Matt Wright also added three hits for the Phillies and combined with Steve Homza to pick up the win.

Exeter Yankees 10,

W/WW Marcum Motors 3

Kyle Musto and Nick Athmann combined to strike out 11 hitters as the Exeter Yankees beat Wyoming/West Wyoming Marcum Motors, 10-3.

Musto added a home run, and Athmann doubled for the Yankees. Adam Buczynski also doubled for Exeter.

Pittston K of C 3

Jake Wiesner struck out eight batters to lead the Exeter Yankees to a 5-3 win over Pittston City Knights of Columbus.

Kyle Musto and Adam Buczynski doubled for the Yankees, and CJ Rome added an RBI single.

Joey June added an RBI single for Pittston.

WP West Side Auto 1

Hunter Booth had three hits to lead Pittston City Knights of Columbus to a 5-1 win over West Pittston West Side Auto.

Justin Fitzpatrick earned the pitching win, and Dylan Spurlin picked up the save. Holden Prescott and Noah Strucke added two hits each for K of C.

Jake Hogan and Jeff Simon each singled for West Pittston.

Pitt. K of C 12, JT Giants 5

Holden Prescott and John Brady combined for 11 strikeouts as the Pittston City Knights of Columbus beat the Jenkins Twp. Giants, 12-5. Prescott earned the win while Brady picked up the save.

Hunter Booth and Pat Mitchell had three hits each to pace the Knights at the plate. Dylan Spurlin added two hits.

Matt Havrilla, Jon Winters and Nick Prociak each had a hit for the Giants.

Diamond 5, A/D VFW 1

Brandon Charney hit his first Little League home run at Flack Field to lead Wyoming/West Wyoming Diamond Manufacturing to a 5-2 win over Avoca/Dupont VFW.

Cole Keating and Alex Gonzales combined for the win on the mound, and Matt Hindmarsh and Dakota Thomas each picked up singles for Diamond.

Kevin Krawczyk had three hits for VFW

Dupont VFW 11, Marcum 10

Dupont VFW earned a walk-off win in a thrilling 11-10 victory over Wyoming/West Wyoming Marcum Motors.

Kevin Krawczyk allowed just two hits and two runs in four innings of relief to pick up the win.

Walter Coles had three hits and three RBI for VFW, and Chris Merithew smacked a two-run home run.

Tanner Williams had a hit, a run scored, and a run batted in for Marcum Motors.

JT Phillies 12,

W/WW Legion 2

Dominic Stella singled twice and picked up the win on the mound as Jenkins Twp. Milazzo Phillies beat Wyoming/West Wyoming American Legion, 12-2.

Steve Shamnoski homed and singled, and Nick Allardyce smacked three hits for the Phillies. Ryan Zelonis chipped in with two hits, and Eddie Tavaglione added a double.

Hitting for West Wyoming were Alex Hawk and Joe Skrip with doubles.

Mariotti’s 10, Rossi’s 4

Ben Grochowski smashed four hits, including a grand slam, as Mariotti Lumber beat Rossi’s Market, 10-4.

Shane Smith struck out seven for the win, and Nasir Harris and Matt Mariotti each had two hits for the Lumbermen.

Patrick Donovan had two hits for Rossi’s.

Greater Pittston Softball

Dupont 4, Prestige 3

Vicky Steinetz smacked three hits to lead Dupont Bow Clinic to a 4-3 win over Prestige World Wide.

Nina Cencetti struck out 11 in six innings to pick up the win. She also added two hits for the winners.

Dupont 3, Taylor 4

Dupont Bow Clinic’s Dominique Quaglia and Nina Cencetti combined to strike out 10 hitters in a tough 4-3 loss to Taylor.

Megan Purcell went 1-for-2 for Dupont.

Dupont 15, Solfanelli 6

Four players had two hits each as the Dupont Bow Clinic beat Solfanelli Funeral Home, 15-6.

Megan Purcell, Raechel Kochanowski, Mary Silinskie and Mia Barbieri each had two hits for Dupont.

Dominique Quaglia struck out five in three innings to earn the win, and Silinskie struck out three in three innings of relief.

Vicky Steinetz added a home run for the Bow Clinic.

JT Tony’s Pizza 4,

Taryn Ashby went 3-for-3 with a double and triple to lead Jenkins Twp. Tony’s Pizza to a 4-3 win over the Nanticoke Eagles.

Taylor Baloga struck out 11 in six innings to earn the win, and Mindina Lieback and Dominique Quaglia each added two hits for the winners.
