Wyoming Area Catholic students celebrate ‘Pi Day’

Recently, the students at Wyoming Area Catholic in Exeter planned and celebrated "Pi Day." The number Pi is an irrational number (3.14...) used to calculate the circumference and area of a circle. Students celebrated Pi Day on March 14th. Activities were televised on Newswatch 16 with Ryan Leckey. Special guests included Mrs. Mary Tigue, Assistant Superintendent for the Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Scranton.

Some of the activities planned included a Pi memorization contest, a Pi Scavenger Hunt, a Pi Eating Contest, Pi Service Project, where the students were challenged to collect 314 cans of food for the local food pantry. Other activites for the Pi Day were Pi tattoos, Pi face painting, Pi relay race and life size Pi symbol formation in the school parking lot. We ended the celebration with the crowning of the King and Queen of Pi. Mrs. Eileen Rishcoff, accelerated Math teacher coordinated the events at Wyoming Area Catholic for Pi Day.
