Wyoming Area clips Mohawks to open WVC

PA drops first match to juggernaut Holy Redeemer

The Pittston Area Girls’ Volleyball team.

Wyoming Area won its opening match in the Wyoming Valley Conference with a 3-1 win over Wilkes-Barre Meyers on Tuesday afternoon in the Diamond City.

Kate Kross led the way for the Lady Warriors with 23 points and 11 aces. She also added four kills for Wyoming Area (1-0).

Malory Bohan added 14 points for WA, and Audrey Hiedacavage chipped in with eight assists and four kills.

PA 0, Holy Redeemer 3

Pittston Area lost its opening match of the WVC season, 3-0, to Holy Redeemer. It was the Lady Royals 76th consecutive league win.

Kendall Melachick led the Lady Patriots with five service points and one dig in the 25-7, 25-12, 25-5 loss.

Matches postponed

Both Pittston Area and Wyoming Area had matches late in the week postponed due to flooding problems in the Wyoming Valley. Both schools will get back on the courts this week.
